TECH 2008 a resounding success!

December 09, 2008

TECH 2008 was held on November 26, 2008 at Mohawk College's STARRT Centre.  Over 200 young women from local high schools and the community attend this Service Canada funded event annually.  There was much excitement this year since it's the 9th year that HTAB has coordinated TECH.

RosieAs a one day interactive career information conference for young women, this year activities focused on where the occupational shortages are: the skilled trades and technology occupations.

Each year HTAB staff, Stirling and Associates, Sandra Summerhayes and Associates, community volunteers, volunteers from HTAB's Women's Reference Group, and team leaders help to craft a day that opens up a new world of career possibilities for young women.

Brooke Gordon, Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization, was one of the team leaders.  Brooke also belongs to the Soroptimist of Dundas, Ancaster and Flamborough.  Click here to read her excellent article on TECH.
